Welcome to Songbird Abbey

A REFUGE & RETREAT FOR PEOPLE GOING THROUGH TOUGH OR UNCERTAIN TIMES.

The relief of those in hardship or distress.

The preservation and promotion of mental and physical good health.

The advancement of the Christian religion.

an Antidote to Many of the SADNESSES AND SORROWS OF MODERN LIFE.

  • 1 in 3 people have increased mental health issues stemming from lack of real connection with each other and nature.

  • Loneliness is associated with a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia, stroke, depression, anxiety, and premature death.

  • The mortality impact of being socially disconnected (lack of face to face) is similar to smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day.

  • Addictions to pornography, alcohol, and other substance abuse continue to increase yearly despite all our best efforts.

  • Social Media negatively affects EVERYONE - increasing our anxiety, stress, and depression. Social Media algorithms even deliver dangerous content to teens which has led to eating disorders, suicide, drug addictions, and more.

Resident Story

Envisioning a Healthy Future

"Whereas work seems to be a place of stress for most people, here it's not. We slow down when we need to. As we put our hands to the ground the workday is a place to work and walk through my grief...Songbird Abbey is an environment that someone like myself going through trauma and pain can step into and feel completely safe to fully recover and envision a healthy future again."

We need TRUE community in the midst of tough or uncertain times.

Songbird Abbey is a family based community, set in a smallholding, offering Christian hospitality, to create a supportive environment for people going through tough or uncertain times and to rediscover peace, silence, and acceptance amidst the beauty and simplicity of a rural farm.

Our Resident Family

Meet the Davis'

  • We know what it’s like to need a place of refuge. Over the past 12 years we have experienced both the need for a place of refuge, as well as stepping in when we’ve seen the same need arise for others.

  • This is a way of life for us. Jeremiah took vows into the Order of the Mustard Seed in 2019, an international, dispersed, lay-led, ecumenical, religious order originally established in 1716 by Count Zinzendorf of the Moravians.

  • We became an extended household by inviting a divorced, bereaved parent to live with us for 10 months.

  • Tricia is helping others to homeschool through leading Adventure and Wonder while homeschooling our own children.

  • Homesteading in the Midwest. Our family has been homesteading in the Midwest for generations and with a wide range of skills and strengths we want to carry on that legacy at Songbird Abbey.
